Humphreys County is a small, deeply rural Delta county in west-central Mississippi. The county seat is Belzoni, which bills itself as the "Catfish Capital of the World" for the catfish farming industry that once dominated the area. The landscape is quintessential Delta — flat, open agricultural fields stretching to the horizon, broken by bayous, oxbow lakes, and cypress-lined waterways.
This is one of the least populated and most affordable Delta counties. The agricultural economy has contracted as the catfish industry declined, but the rich soil remains productive for row crops. For land buyers, Humphreys County offers Delta farmland at some of the lowest prices in the region, plus outstanding waterfowl hunting on its numerous oxbow lakes and flooded fields.
