Wayne County is a Piney Woods county in southeast Mississippi with Waynesboro as its county seat. The Chickasawhay River flows through the county, and the De Soto National Forest touches portions of the western edge. Waynesboro has more infrastructure than most rural county seats including a hospital.
Meridian is about 40 minutes north and the Gulf Coast about 75 minutes south. For land buyers, Wayne County offers productive pine-belt timber, river recreation, and small-city services at very affordable prices.
